It was the day after the first quidditch match of the season and all was intellectual in the Ravenclaw common room, still discussing their un-touched pride over the outcome of the game.
The next day [Omg wow, i did a whole day in a sentence, this is uber speeding up] it was a different story at the end of the day [see, look at that, there goes another day, poof!] and the gossips, tarts and all members of those groups were feeling rather excited -and not bothering in the slightest to hide it- over the upcoming Winter ball. The times had just been confirmed across the years and the information was posted up on all the notice boards.
It read:

Dearest fellow students,
As the days getlonger shorter and the holidays being to draw closer , we invite you to unwind and be rewarded in the form of a Ball to appreciate this terms hard work . To celebrate, Hogwarts will be throwing a special Christmas feast, followed by the ball itself from 7pm- 10pm for years 1-4 and 8pm-11pm for years 5-7
It will be smart dress with prizes for the prettiest outfits awarded by the upper and lower school dance co-ordinators
