"come on Kyli," said Charles, standing up and pulling her up at the same time.
Her wrist held in his hand, Kyli looked at him puzzled, "where?"
"You'll see" he said mysteriously, pulling away from the sofa.
The two of them made their way out of the common room and into the corridor. Kyli was expecting to head to the stairs, but Charles pulled her in a different way. She was really confused now,
"where are we going?" she asked, excitedly. Charles grinned, "you'll see" he repeated.
They'd gone a short way down the corridor when Charles turned to face Kyli. "shut your eyes" he said smiling.
"what?" said Kyli, giggling. Charles sighed and put his hands over her eyes. "Honestly" he said, marching her down the corridor. Kyli was a bit freaked out by being marched, blind, down the corridor, but all she did was giggle silently. She felt charles walking her back and forward, and she was about to ask what was going on, when they stopped, and Charles opened a door. He walked her inside and dropped his hands.
Kyli gasped. she was standing in a candelight room, decorated beautiful with fine ornaments and mirrors. It was fairly large, yet cosy at the same time. At one end of the room, a string orchestra was playing softly, whilst in the middle of the room stood a smallish, round table. the whole place was... beautiful.
"It-it's gorgeous!" she said to Charles. Charles beamed at her, and moved over to the table. Faking sophistication, he pulled back a chair and spread out an arm. Kyli mimicked his sophisticated style as she sat down. Then they both broke out into huge grins. Charles sat down opposite, and then kyli surveyed the table. it was laid with exactly enough food for the two of them. A delicious, mouth watering meal.
Kyli grinned at Charles as she helped herself, "this is awesome" she said. He put some food on his plate too, "I'm glad to hear that" he said.
They ate by the light of candelight, chatting laughing and generally enjoying each other's company. Kyli felt so happy, so elated, so joyful...
As they finished eating, the small orchestra changed it's tune form a serenade to a waltz. Charles stood up and offered Kyli his arm, "care to dance?"
Kyli's smile was so bright it shone like the candles hanging from the ceiling. She accepted Charles' arm, and they moved into a space. And although neither of them was any good at dancing, somehow they managed to dance as if they were proffessionals. As far as steps were concerned, they were amateurs, but the magic of the moment made them perfect.
It was late when the music drew to a close. Kyli rested her head on Charles, and he led her to the door. Then they tiptoed back to the common room, trying to avoid teachers, ghosts and grumpy portaits. After they'd roused a grumpy potrait, they climbed inside the room.
Kyli turned to face Charles, "we'd better be getting back" she whispered. But she didn't move. Charles moved his face closer to hers, She looked up into his eyes.
The kiss seemed to last forever, but eventually they broke away, "goodnight" said charles softly. Kyli smiled,
"goodnight"
