Monday lunch
Kyli only just managed to make it out of Charms without exploding. A vague picture was forming in her mind- but she needed books to clarify it…
In the library, she scanned the books, wondering where to look next. She knew that Sei’s dad was Irish. He was into story-telling, advanced magic and went through a difficult time in his life. Fat lot of use that was. She skimmed over her notes… he went to hogwarts… a powerful wizard ? surely there had to be some record of “ powerful ” students at Hogwarts. Kyli paced up and down the shelves…
‘aha !’ Kyli selected a weather-beated copy of “ Students of potential ”.
However, despite the fitting title, it didn’t help at all. It was full of tips on how to acheive your best, and didn’t mention past acheivers at all. Returning it to its place, she chose another one, “ Hogwarts : proud of it’s acheivers ”.
This was also disappointing- obviously written by some lousy swot who wanted to show off hogwarts. It was full of all the spectacular things that students had done- but obviously with some bias. Those who were in Ravenclaw were awarded pages of meaningless drivel, whilst those in other houses got a maximum of six sentences. Still, Kyli had feeling it might be rewarding. With the book on her lap as she sat on a bench, she began to read.
The bell rang for the end of lunch, and she was forced to put the book away. She’d spent forever searching through it, and had no reference to Té at all… great.

Monday evening
At the end of the day, Kyli entered the library, ready for some serious studying… after about half an hour, she had scribbled severel pages in her note book- but there was nothing substantial. She looked at it all, sorting it out in her mind…
1) Sei’s dad was called Téadóir but called himself Té as a proffesional name. 2) Té was a powerful magician- but not very successful- at least in early career. 3) Té had attracted much media attention at one point, over some kind of kidnapping...
And that was it. Nothing else ! Kyli sighed. Why was there no reference to him in books about hogwarts students ? what was the kidnapping about ? and why was she so desperate to find out about him ?
Just as she was thinking this, a shy looking Hufflepuff made his way over, “ erm, excuse me, ” he said, and kyli spun round, “ yeh ? ” The hufflepuff cleared his throat, “ I’ve noticed you in here a lot, and I was wondering if you need some help… ? ”
Kyli shook her head, “ not unless you can tell me how you find a book about someone who refuses to turn up in any of the places he should do, ” she said. The hufflepuff looked slightly brightened, “ who ? ”
Kyli frowned, “ why should I tell you ? ” the hufflepuff looked stung, “ you don’t have to ” he said, somewhat coldly. However, as he walked away, he added, “ the newspaper cuttings are always a good place to look… ”
Of course ! Kyli moved over to the newspaper section of the library, and stared up at the masses of cuttings in front of her. She felt slightly uneasy- how was she supposed to find anything in there ? then she noticed a label on the wall- instructions… she scanned them over, then held out her wand… “ té carters ? ” she said, nervously. A flurry of newspaper cuttings flew towards her.
She stepped back… “ wow… ” she murmured. Where to start ? might as well begin at the beginning… she noticed with relief that all the cuttings were in order…
Still it was hard work, and not very rewarding. She hadn’t fully appreciated the number of Té’s and Carters in the world… this was hard work.
She consulted her notebook after what seemed like an hour. Pretty much nothing new… she had been surprised to learn that Té had only studied at Hogwarts for first year- before moving to an Irish school. But that wasn’t hugely useful- although… waht if he appeared in the records for that school ? she made a little note in her margins.
Then she turned back to the clippings.
It was about half seven when she found something truly shocking. A large article, that stood out from the others as something really important. It read…
Last nights festivities were abruptly cut short for the party goers when Señor and Señora Eidostaire discovered that their only daughter had been kidnapped. Siciletta Eidos, age 23, was first reported missing by her close friend Angelique Llunaris at approximately 11:54. ‘She had stepped outside to get some air’ A distressed Angelique informed us. ‘And said she would be back in five minutes at the most. Naturally I was worried when it had been ten minutes, and went to look for her. But I found nothing, by this time it had been a full fourteen minutes, and so I told her parents.' The identity of the kidnapper has recently been confirmed as Téadóir Carters. A former priest in his home country of Ireland, now penniless. Is thought to have commited this crime in order to gain money by holding Siciletta ransom. Local residents claim he was a shifty character from the first, and many believe he was an agent of the dark arts as only very occasionaly did he leave his room at the hostel where he was staying. Police and forensic investigators have found no sign of a struggle anywhere where Sicilietta Eidostaire may have gone in the fifteen minutes between leaving Señorita Llunaris and being reported missing to the local station. They believe this is due to Carters powers as a hypnotist and actor, decieving her and then capturing her. Señor and Señora Eidostaire have already spread posters in the hope of someone recognising either of the two, and a large reward is being offered for her safe return.
Kyli’s head was reeling- not quite sure to make of it. If she wasn’t afraid of the librarian’s vendetta against property theft, however small, she’d have taken it then and there. As it was, she copied up quickly, and headed out of the library, head buzzing.
[ps, many thanks to alice for information, and helping me write it (the article was her masterpeice, and so were almost all the ideas about Té), i less than three you alice !]
