With an almighty splash Tobi found himself flailing in the shock and embarassment of falling into the water. Joshua's strong arms reached down and helped him to find his feet. Spluttering water, glad for the cool down after that intense moment where he had no doubt been as red as a tomato, Tobi wiped an eye, still holding onto one of Joshua's arms, although not realising this until a few moments later when he let go a little embarassedly. Now also feeling a bit awkward, Joshua rubbed the back of his neck, looking around the pool area for anyone who might know him. The sulking teenagers in the jacuzi seemed unbothered by anything and were watching the bubbles, ignorant of anything not in their rating of cool. Which two kids arsing around in the pool were not.
Madeline padded out onto the veranda, and down the marble stairs to the pool, hearing a loud splash as she turned the corner shaded by low bushes and lined up deckchairs. Had she been several inches taller and able to see over them, she would have assumed something very different of her brother wiping water from his eyes, fully clothed, in the pool with Joshua.
"Are you alright?" He asked to fill in the silence. "Oh, yeah- yes I'm fine. Just wet." Tobi said, calming down from the shock and smiling. Josuha returned the grin. "Good job we're only in the shallow end." They laughed at the remark, glad to ease the lingering tension. By this time Madeline was within earshot and called out to them. "Did Josh pull you into the pool Tobi? What have you done now?" She said humourously. Reddening with a mix of anger -the moment could have been resumed, or rescued- and indignation -who did she think she was saying that?- Tobi pulled a cross face at his sister. "I didn't do anything! I-" "Called me looser for complaining about my parents. So I got my soggy revenge." He interrupted, pretending to be pleased with himself for drenching Tobi. Madeline laughed wickedly, venting her fury that Joshua was now spending time with her brother after saying he was too busy to hang around with her, "serves you right Tobi. That was mean of you." Tobi looked unimpressed, clearly Maddy was still a devoted follower of Joshua, willing to agree with everything he said and smiling as though she hadn't a care in the world. "I- I'm going to change." He mumbled, pained that he had been so easily fooled, and they had almost... pathetic. "Tobi?" Joshua called as he hoisted himself out of the pool, clothes sodden. "Are you ok?" Turning face him, the only emotion he showed was sadness as he said: "Just peachy(!) Bye." Joshua blinked, confused and stung a little by the sudden mood change; he had only made up the story to avoid having to tell Madeline what had actually happened, and she would inevitably tell people. This was not a wanted outcome. Before he could say anything more, Tobi had crossed the limestone pathway to the hotel and disappeared inside.

Madeline rolled her eyes, giggling at what had seemed like an overreaction. "What a sissy- don't worry about him." She added, noticing Joshua moving to follow him. "Whenever he goes off in a huff like that he always calms down once he's read a magazine or two." She sat on the egde of the pool, smiling kindly down at him. Joshua was thinking quickly. "When I'm stressed, I like sitting in steam rooms, how about you?" "Oh yes, they're fabulous for chilling out." She said, eager to please. "Did you know this hotel has one?" "Really?" Madeline looked interested, and was in the process of convincing herself that she loved the horrible stickiness of saunas. "Yeah, my room's next to it, on the second floor." He hoped this would prompt the reply he wanted. "Oh, coolness, my room is a long way from that though, it's on the seventh floor." Hiding his small victory, he pressed further. "Well, the lift comes out right next to it, or is your room really far away from that as well." He joked. "Mmm." She waved a hand vaguely. "It's sort of inbetweeny. It's number 14, so it's not as far away as it would be if we were in room 34!" They laughed, Madeline's a little over zealous in an attempt to seem more fun to be with than her brother. "So, are you doing anything interesting today?" "Well, I'm going to a spa with my mother and then we're doing some shopping in the city. How about you?" He nodded, glad she would be out of his hair for the day. "I'm doing, um, a club type thing at the hotel. Sounds pretty boring though, my parents signed me up for it." She pulled a face, sympathetic at the prospect of something that your parents thought would be interesting. "How wonderful, you must be thrilled (!)" Grinning, he pulled himself out of the pool and shook his legs to get some of the water off. "Oh completely(!) Well, I think I'd better get dressed, it starts in an hour or so and my mother will fuss if I'm not ready when she gets back from playing bridge." "Oh," the disappointment in her voice was evident, she had hoped to win his affections by being cute, and had had how the morning would go all figured out in her mind. "Well, see you round then!" She called in a sugary voice as he left. "Byee."

Tobi's clothes clung damply over the side of the bath, dripping into the tub and onto the towel he had placed on the floor to catch stray drops. Feeling a bit calmer now, he flicked through the pages of a magazine they had bought from the shop on board the boat before disembarking. Various celebrities were doing various things with various people. The latest fashions had been praised or slandered according to who had made them. There was an interview with Raika Tyakess, about his plans for the future and no the writer would have tried to gleam some more information on his terrible treatment in Kaltovich. Some crazy reporter was claiming an evil group of wizards was forming and planning to cause mayhem. There was this weeks best buys for makeups and clothes, Tobi made a mental note of the fantastic shirt and planned on finding something as similar as possible on a shopping trip, except without the glittery buttons which really would be too girly. ---- Downstairs in the hotel foyer, Joshua crept inconspicuously nearer to the front desk taking a seat at one of the low coffee tables, one receptionist was showing a family newly checking in to their room, another wase busy on a telephone taking reservations and the other was probably in the floo room, taking bookings from magical families who still refused to use the phone, like his own, unless it was for business. Fortunately, the hotel was solely for wizarding families, and magic was allowed in most places, such as here for shrinking and levitating baggage. The keys were kept, in the manner of old fashioned hotels, on hooks in a large wooden grid, in the order of floors and rooms. Spares were always kept, in case people locked themselves out; anti lock picking charms had been cast on the doors, for an extra bit of security and something else to add to the extensive list of why this hotel was the best. Recalling an incredibly useful spell he had found in a book, he swirled his wand subtly under the dark wood of the table. A key on the hook for 7-14 became partially visible, only a glimmer of the silver it was made from giving away its positon. Slowly, it hovered in the air and floated towards him. ---- Tobi finished reading the magazine and padded into the bathroom to see if his clothes had dried much, enough to hang over the railing outside without the peole below getting soaked at least. He had changed into slightly longer versions of the shorts he had been wearing on the boat a few days ago and a loose sleeveless blue top with a sun on it; by now the sun was up quite high and everyone would either be indoors, or like some of the locals, taking a nap while the stifling temperature of midday cooled down. He heard Madelines key scraping in the lock as he went back into the bathroom to move the towels he had used for a shower to the chute that took them to the laundry rooms beneath the hotel. She was probably back to fetch something to read at the spa, or some nicer looking shoes than the jelly sandals she had been wearing down to the pool. ---- Joshua took a deep breath as he turned the key to Tobi's room. The magazines on the table reassured him and he shut the door behind him, putting the key into the pocket of his baggy shorts. ---- "Hi Mad!" Tobi called from a room to the side. "I've seen the most amazing shirt ever. Listen, when you go shopping with mummy, see if you can find it for-" His mouth gaped open upon seeing someone who was definately not Madeline. "Joshua?!" Stepping forward with a friendly and apologetic smile on his face, Joshua spoke, "I'm really sorry about upsetting you earlier. I just didn't think you'd want to tell Madeline why you were really in the pool." Tobi blushed furiously. "And I- !.... erm." He looked at the floor sheepishly, temper vanishing upon seeing sense. "I... well, I... umm. I guess I thought..." Joshua resisted the urge to move to Tobi and embrace him in apology, using words instead. "You thought that I was just messing around with you?" The silence of Tobi looking uncomfortably at a space to the side of him confirmed this. "Oh, Tobi. I'm really sorry! I didn't think you would take it like that at all!" Tobi smiled over at him softly. "I feel so silly getting all worked up about it. I should have realised what you were doing." He said shaking his head, reddening slightly again and feeling suddenly awkard standing doing nothing. "Friends again?" Joshua said, extending a hand. "Yeah." Tobi said, shaking it.

Leaning forward slightly, Joshua's other arm went around Tobi, hugging him. Then, releasing his grip on the handshake, the newly freed arm slipped around his back as well. The pace of Tobi's heart sped slightly at their touching before he relaxed slightly into Joshua's chest, returning the loose hug. Glad they could put the awkwardness of this morning behind them. He wasn't compltetely sure if he was ready for another relationship right now, let alone one with all the complications this one might have had. With Madeline as well as his parents. He would have to get by with pretend girlfriends until he was old enough to leave home. After a few moments, he felt the arms holding him shift slightly. One moved upwards, into a slightly less embracing position, Tobi squezed a little tighter briefly, assuming this was the end of the hug. As he went to move backwards he found that this was not possible; Joshua was holding him tightly and seemed not to notice his attempt at moving away. Tobi felt a warm breath on his neck as Joshua re-angled his head . Worries coursed through him and he slipped his hands between them, pushing gently on Joshua's chest. The door was unlocked, Madeline might come back, or worse, with his mother. Or, horror of all horrors, his father could walk in, hoping to go around the city or spend some quality time together. As if sensing this, Joshua murmured softly to him. "No one's going to disturb us; Mad and your mum have left for the spa, our dad's think we're walking around the grounds and they're playing one of the longest card games imaginable." There was something in the gravity of his eyes as he spoke, slowly, inticingly, quietly powerful. Tobi felt slightly faint and blushed as Joshua's head moved from staring into his eyes downwards. There was hot breath below his ear and heard a whisper: "So now that we're alone," He could almost feel Joshua's lips on his neck. "and there's no pool to fall into..." his other hand slid downwards to the small of Tobi's back, sending his heart racing, and pulled him a little closer. For a moment he thought he might pass out and slipped his arms around Joshua's lowered neck for support. He felt the soft dampness of a kiss on his shoulder and blood rushed to his head as slowly the kisses travelled up his neck, a small hot breath in his ear before they traced his jawline and finally reached his own mouth, deepening the kiss with the ease of someone incredibly experienced in the arts of intimacy, his hands smoothly tracing the curve of his back. After an endless moment of blurred warmth, Tobi felt his lungs tightening in an attempt to find some form of oxygen. When he had dated Elsie, the furthest they had gone was kissing for a few seconds, lips shut, nothing like the tight, animated embrace he was in, and definately without the tongues, which had come as a shock and resulted in him nearly biting Joshua's. He had managed to pass it off as something he'd meant to do, earning a hand on his bottom and the incredibly long kiss which was now on the verge of suffocating him. He lacked the technique of subtly breathing when lips parted that enabled Joshua to kiss for so long. Finally, when his lungs burned from lack of oxygen and he felt truly on the verge of fainting, Tobi pulled back and gasped, loudly and deeply, feeling the air rushing into his lungs. Joshua watched with a faint amusement as Tobi gasped feebly, trying to establish a regular breathing pattern. "You are just too adorable sometimes." He murmured, sliding his arms back around Tobi's waist and manouevering him over to a sofa in order to ease the pain of craning his neck so far down. As they slid down onto the comfortable leather of the seat, Joshua pulled Tobi sideways slightly so that instead of being next to him, he was on his lap; a far more convenient position to kiss in. But glancing quickly at the clock, he saw there was no hurry. Joshua ran a hand through Tobi's hair, he'd always liked red heads, they were supposed to be firey and the tongue nibbling trick he'd pulled earlier had certainly been stimulating. His hand rested behind Tobi's ear and drew his head close again to resume the kiss, gently pulling on his earlobes. Tobi let Joshua kiss his face and neck, making sure to breathe at all possible openings, and wondered how many boyfriends he had had before, how many girlfriends, whether this was just a holiday thing, whether there was anyone else... These concerns soon melted with the sweet whisperings in his ears and he found himself lying on the sofa, Joshua leaning over him, supporting himself with one hand in an attempt not to squash Tobi, who was significantly shorter and less well built.

The day wound onwards lazily and as it neared 2 o clock Joshua kissed Tobi goodbye and left for his own room to be back in time for his parents return. Tobi wandered around the room in a smiling daze for a while until Madeline returned, laden with clothes and looking rosy cheeked from the spa. She regarded him for a moment as she put her bags down on the sofa. "What's up with you, Tobi? Win the games at the day club or something?" She said, attempting to find out if he'd gone to the club with Joshua. "No, just had a really nice time relaxing here. I didn't go to that silly thing, they're always full of babies." She smiled, an air of knowing more about someone on her face. "Didn't you know that Joshua went? He says it's really fun." Tobi raised his eyebrows, an air of knowing even more about someone who thought they knew lots not on his face, but secretly inside. "Oh really? I thought he'd gone off somewhere with his parents. But anyway, I don't see what you see in him really. It was so mean of him to pull me into the pool." Madeline laughed and sighed, doey eyed. "Well you just don't know what it's like to be in love. He's so fantastic, I hope he asks me to the party on the return ship in a couple of days. I've bought the most amazing outfit. I saw it in that magazine." She said, pointing to the one Tobi had been looking at before his secret visitor. "Why's it on the floor, eesh Tobi, have some respect for fashion would you!" She crossed over and picked it up, brushing the cover and flicking to the page with the shirt on that Tobi had, in his mind modified into one suitable for men. "See! Isn't it geawwwwgurs. I was so happy when I saw it." Tobi smiled, unfazed by the fact that his sister had stolen the top he loved. Oh well, he'd... not stolen, that was a harsh word... got, something she loved. He suddenly felt very guilty. "I'm going to have a shower." He mumbled, getting up and leaving the room. "The top is really great by the way." She frowned, puzzled, but soon pulled out her new clothes to gaze lovingly at their designer beauty.

The rest of the holiday passed quickly for Tobi, with various tours of the city they were in. The evening activities with the other children on the cruise were almost painful; Joshua having made the admittedly smart decision of not hanging around together too closely at such events. Tobi had to watch, hiding his evny, as Joshua laughed and enjoyed himself with the older children. He noted they were all pretty ugly; most of them not even as pretty Madeline. Then there were the scattered few hours when one of their rooms was free. Tobi loved these moments almost as much as the history of the city, and hoped that his mother and sister would continue their daily shopping sprees, which often lasted until the late afternoon, until it was time for the final cruise home.
finished~!!
