[this is posted in each of the common rooms, there are different ones for different years;
first years
second and third years
third and fourth years
fourth and fifth years
fifth and sixth years
sixth and seventh years

if you're a little confused at this, here's the explaination.
they turn the room of requirement into the great hall, so basically they have two great halls at once. That way each ball starts about half an hour later than the one before it, with a bigger gap for every other ball. Anyway, you dont need to worry about it cause everyone [except a few] are in first year.
